When the other disciples discovered the plot to kill Paul, they decided to send him to Tarsus to ensure his safety. They knew God had a purpose for Paul, and they didn’t want him to be murdered like Stephen. While praying in the temple, Paul himself had a vision in which God told him to leave Jerusalem because the Jews there would reject his testimony (Acts 22:17–21).
